The Toyota Celica LB Turbo was an extraordinary Group 5 racing machine developed for the fiercely competitive 1977 DRM (German Racing Championship). Derived from the production Celica Liftback, this purpose-built race car featured dramatically widened overfenders, an aggressive rear wing, and lightweight FRP body panels that gave it its unmistakable silhouette.

Beneath its striking exterior, the car was powered by a heavily modified 2,090cc inline-4 DOHC turbocharged engine capable of producing an impressive 560 horsepower. This immense power, combined with its advanced aerodynamics, made it a formidable contender on the track.

Making its debut in July 1977, the Celica LB Turbo quickly proved its potential. In October of the same year, it achieved a remarkable milestone by defeating the dominant Porsche 935 to secure its first victory—cementing its place in motorsport history.
